A TRULY
HAPPY PERSON IS ONE WHO CAN ENJOY THE SCENERY ON A DETOUR - unknown.
My detour is done. I believe my mid-life crisis, that I'm too young for, is over! I have made a complete remodel
of my life ... career and home. I thought my move to Calgary in August, 2004 finished it! Even after
becoming a CTC with honours and receiving the 2005 Volunteer of the Year by the CITC, the travel industry was not going
to become my final career. Cynical people and almost poverty pay was enough to make this high achiever decide that it
was time to move on. I will never regret my five years in the travel industry and I will always think it was this experience
that gave me the courage and opportunity to move to Calgary.
With that being said, I started my new career
as an Administrative Assistant for Canada's largest EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) firms, Bantrel.
I've been there for over seven months now and will tell everyone I meet that I love this company. Great management with
clear and managable goals for a company in a phenomenal industry. As we were told in my first company-wide "all hands"
meeting... "You're in the right industry!!!!"
Sadly, I started my detour with
ill health (a disease called Sarcoidosis... please click the link above for information)
It was in remission for about 4 years but I have lasting scars in my
lungs that remind me of the disease. Life goes on... pain gets managed... a few down days will lead to more up days.
In early-fall
2004, I was dragged to Talk City by a former Lycos Pet-Lovers chatter. Many new friends have been found in The
Log Cabin, with great chat, trivia and of course, Cabin Fever Radio, the best stream team on the internet! Of course, Jewel
is one of them! See the next page for details!
The latest best part of my new life is that I am finally a pet
owner again.... heeeeeeerrrrrrreeeeeeee's Sparkles! She is a beautiful tuxedo cat, adopted from the Calgary Humane Society. She
is now almost five years old and very much a part of my life! She gets to spend vacation time at the kennel and forgives
me for it sometimes. We have a love/bite relationship but once in a while, she lets me know that she really loves me.
